The Four Seasons. I first listened to the song “Big Girls Don’t Cry” when I watched one of my favourite movies of all time, Dirty Dancing and fell in love with it immediately.
So, when I saw that there was going to be a musical about Jersey Boys, which is a story about the lives of the members of The Four Seasons and in particular Frankie Valli, I had to go. I was hoping to win some tickets to the show and luckily my friend Milo won a pair.
It was a beautiful day as we headed to Istana Budaya that evening. Hope the show would be just as amazing!
Jersey Boys Musical Shows Struggles, Talents and Successes If One Prevails
If you’ve never heard of one of the 1960’s popular rock ‘n roll group, The Four Seasons, then you have not lived well.
The Jersey Boys Musical is a documentary-like of how the members Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi came together and founded The Four Seasons. Raised in the wrong side of New Jersey, these Jersey Boys were knee-deep in drugs, gambling, infidelity, mob-connections and lots of punch-throwing.
Music is one that brought them together and music is what they are good at but it wasn’t easy to “break” the market and let their music be heard. The band was a great success but their personal issues like Frankie’s relationship troubles and Tommy’s gambling problems has caused the band The Four Seasons to disband and eventually bankrupt.
It was sad of course, but as a fan to their music, it was an experience in itself to watch the tough life each member experienced being brought to life through the musical.
Songs like “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Walk Like A Man”, “My Eyes Adored You”, “Beggin'”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, “Fallen Angel” and so many more was sung throughout the journey of Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. I enjoyed every moment listening to all of The Four Seasons’ songs and also Frankie Valli’s solo songs. Big applause to the casts for singing their songs really well!
The best part of the evening was when we get to meet some of the casts and I got two signatures on my programme book too. Thank you very much Milo for bringing me to the show. It was fantastic!
