In case you didn’t know, Dr. Ko Skin Specialist is the largest leading dermatology and laser centre in Asia, founded by Dato’ Dr. Ko Chung Beng in 1997. Dr. Ko Skin Specialist provides various range of aesthetic services from cosmetic dermatology, hair transplant, plastic surgery and slimming.
Last Tuesday, I was lucky to be invited to Dr. Ko Skin Specialist’s event to introduce their latest breakthrough technology in dermatology laser that has made it’s way to Malaysian shores.
I have been a client of Clinic Ko and have enjoyed their facial treatments before but I think this latest machine would be, without a doubt, the best game player for Dr. Ko Skin Specialist.
Picoway Unveiling Event
Attended by Dr Ko Skin Specialist’s CEO himself, Dato Dr Ko Chung Beng, and Executive Vice President of Syneron Candela; Mr Robert Ruck, the event was also hosted by renowned singer Atilia Haron at Aloft Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It was a very different kind of opening, with Star Wars march, Darth Vader and Skywalker being Dr. Ko himself.
Some celebrities who attended and joined a panel of discussion were actor Idris Khan, film director Erma Fatima, Astro Supersport host Amanda Chaang, TV host Yasmin Hani, actress Tengku Putri Najuwa and other celebrity friends who made the event more special.
Based on the experience of the celebrities who joined the panel, they are all satisfied with the treatments they received with PicoWay and have seen significant difference on their skin, especially the fading of pigmentation. With a few number of treatments, it is possible that all pigmentation will disappear.
Dr Ko Skin Specialist Picoway
Called as “the latest breakthrough technology in dermatology to enter Malaysia”, the machine named Picoway is the proprietary laser technology of American-based medical aesthetic device company Syneron-Candela. This is one of the world’s own latest laser device and distributed in Malaysia by Beaumedic Aestheric (M) Sdn Bhd.
PicoWay is said to be the most advanced laser solution for tattoo removals and benign pigmentation such as freckles and age spots. Personally, I really need this for my freckles! Some people say my freckles are adorable but if I wait another 10 years, adorable would turn into “sandy spots” all over my face.
But, would this machine work on my skin?
Did you know? Most lasers in the market are not compatible to treat patients with darker skin tones because the energy is absorbed into the skin instead of targeting the pigment particles.
“We brought PicoWay to Malaysia because Malaysians have rich skin tones. PicoWay’s laser energy is delivered to the target pigment particles while minimising amount of heat absorbed by the skin. Now Malaysians will finally have a laser treatment option that is suitable for their skin tone,” says Dato’ Dr. Ko
PicoWay uses shortest laser pulse – 375ps and 450ps. This is measured in picoseconds, which is trillionths of a second – try to write that on your calculator! Because of this, the laser effectively breaks down pigments into the smallest particles. When done so, it would be easier to be cleared off by the skin, on top of using very good facial products.
