A few days ago I had this I-should-knock-my-head-on-the-wall episode because I accidentally deleted my blog at Fantastico. I was busy clicking “Remove” on a couple of testing sites I opened and when I clicked my mouse just one more time, I didn’t pay attention where it was and that I had actually clicked on the word “Remove” for enveeus.com instead of somewhere else on the monitor (smart aren’t I?). So in just a split second, my blog was gone.
I totally freaked out. It felt like my heart was going to explode. My blog is pretty much like my baby and seeing it gone in a split second drove me nearly insane. WordPress emails me my blog database weekly and I keep that in my email but that’s about all that I have of my blog. I don’t exactly do a full blog backup weekly (like I’m supposed to do) and so most of the details are gone even though I have the WordPress database emails.
So, what did I do? One thing about hosting my blog on Hostgator is that I can have Live Chat with their representative any time I want which is what I did almost immediately after my “accidental” episode. I explained what happened and they gave me links that I can refer to but I thought I should just have them restore and do the whole shebang on my blog instead. For a price of $15, I would rather have them fix everything than risk ruining my other blogs and websites that I have on Hostgator.
In less than 24 hours, I had my whole blog up and running again thanks to their efficient work even though I took a while to reply to their emails. I must say I’m glad to host my blog at Hostgator with this kinda awesome work and help. Hostgator has easy page navigation for newbies – even for trigger friendly (in this case, mouse friendly) person like me.
One little advice though, make sure you know where you’re clicking before you click it, alright?
